The Food City Corporate Headquarters is a four-story office and conference center complex in Abingdon, Virginia, situated on the former site of Johnson Memorial Hospital. MHM designed the facility to reflect the character of the historic downtown while incorporating modern sophistication, serving as a flagship for both the company and the community.
The headquarters was designed to unify Food City’s corporate operations, previously spread across four separate buildings, into a single, collaborative workplace. At the heart of the design is a central atrium featuring a monumental staircase, an indoor water feature, and adjacent conference rooms that promote connectivity between departments. The facility also includes contemporary open office spaces, a café, and a large conference center wing, all carefully arranged to enhance efficiency and teamwork.
By bringing all employees under one roof, the headquarters fosters a culture of collaboration while providing a state-of-the-art workspace that supports Food City’s continued growth and leadership in the industry.
