William ‘Willy’ Schlein
AIA, LEED AP / ASSOCIATE PRINCIPAL / HEALTHCARE DIRECTOR
William is an Associate Principal and Healthcare Director at McCarty Holsaple McCarty (MHM), bringing over 30 years of experience dedicated to the planning, design, and delivery of healthcare facilities. His expertise spans complex acute care hospitals, specialty facilities, medical office buildings, and large-scale healthcare campus planning, with a focus on evidence-based design and high-performance environments.
Throughout his career, Willy has held senior leadership roles at nationally recognized firms and has led healthcare practices serving academic medical centers and regional health systems across the Southeast, Southwest, and West Coast. He is known for his collaborative approach, long-standing client relationships, and ability to align design solutions with clinical, operational, and community goals.
Willy is actively engaged in professional leadership and education, having served on the American Institute of Architects Academy of Architecture for Health Board of Directors and as Chair for Education. He is a founding co-chair of the South Atlantic Region Architecture for Health Conference and a frequent speaker and author on healthcare design topics. Willy holds a Master of Architecture with a Health Studio concentration from Clemson University and remains committed to mentorship and advancing the practice of healthcare design.
